Together with three friends, I converted a Citroën 2CV and built a 2600 synth into it. We added analog sensors to the steering wheel, suspension, wind, and a contact microphone — all connected to the synth. This way, the car can be used to create and shape sound while you drive.

Interactive Sound & Visual Installation
Interactive Sound & Visual Installation
Together with two collaborators, I created an interactive installation consisting of a transparent tube, a rotating fan, and a suspended string. As the fan spins, the string moves through the tube, passing a series of infrared sensors positioned along its exterior. The sensors send signals to a Teensy and Max/MSP, where they are translated into and used to manipulate sound. A set of physical controls allows the user to influence the sensors, trigger frequency, and sound parameters. At the same time, the sensor data is sent to JavaScript to generate visuals that are projected onto the corresponding sensor locations, creating a connection between the physical movement, sound, and projected image.

For our final project of the second year of Music & Technology, we set out to create something epic — a large, immersive installation that would combine sound, visuals and interaction. What emerged was a strange, living entity that feeds on electronic garbage, reacts to its surroundings, and expresses emotions through unfamiliar sounds and visuals. The installation was built using a combination of techniques, including body tracking, TouchDesigner, interactive systems and a multi-speaker sound setup. The project was created together with Noah Oling, Mees van der Werf and Mees van den Brink. It was made possible in part by Fort Ruimtetijd in Haarlem, with additional help from Cas Dekker. A lot of hard work, experimentation and fun went into bringing this creature to life — and we’re very proud of the result.
